What Experts Say:
Testing has shown that aircraft seat belts alone do not adequately protect children younger than three years. All children should travel properly restrained on aircraft…a child is best protected when properly restrained in a child seat system appropriate for the age, weight and height of the child, and meeting the standards for aircraft, until the child weighs more than 40 lbs.

“I first practiced using the CARES harness on a chair in my living room as I watched theDVD instructional video. It was very easy to use, and incredibly light (only weighs 1 lb.)! From the packaging to the instructional card (same design as safety cards oncommercial aircraft), and the convenient pouch to carry the harness, everything about theCARES harness is professionally done. The middle seat was empty and this is where I first used the CARES harness. The flight attendant had heard of the device and allowed its use on board. My son was happy to siton the big seat like me, and be able to use his own tray table. The harness fit easily overthe back of the seat and since he is familiar with a 5-point harness on his car seat, it was aquick process to install the harness. Wow, I was amazed at how quick and easy it was to install! No more pre-boardingnecessary and no more stressful car seat installations with pinched fingers for me! Andthe best part is, no big bulky car seat to lug around!Since my son is a frequent flier, using the harness was a change for him. I recommendpracticing with the harness at home so installation is familiar to parents as well as children.
